Want to preserve the centerpiece of historic Pasadena? The City needs to hear your voice and get its priorities right!

  • Recognize that the Pasadena Civic Center—City Hall and the garden-like setting— is the heart of our city and is the highest priority.

  • Honor the values and efforts of the Pasadena citizens who had the vision to create the 1923 Bennett Plan and make the investment to carry out that vision. Continue the hundred-year-old legacy they entrusted to us.

  • Design the project to be more compatible with the Civic Center’s architectural and cultural traditions.

  • Save the trees and restore the parkland gardens to what was intended.

  • Rehabilitate the YWCA building.

Thank you for signing our petition… can you also send an email to City Council and/or attend on Monday night?  An email from a constituent carries much more weight than a signature on a petition.

Tell them that:

Our First Priority is the Civic Center. We will not settle for a project that sells off the public parkland.
We believe that the YWCA is an important historic resource but is secondary to the the Civic Center as a whole, and that we should not sacrifice the integrity of the Civic Center (as "2A" does) to rehabilitate the YWCA. The integrity of the Civic Center depends on the garden setting that the parkland provides, and it depends on not placing the REAR END of a 5 or 6-story hotel directly facing City Hall!
Let's preserve both the YWCA and the integrity of the Civic Center!
"2E" is a better alternative.

I walk or bike through the Civic Center at least once a week on my way to and from the library, offices on Walnut, the north end of Old Pasadena, and events at Day One or All Saints Church. I like the garden-like green space in the Civic Center. I think it’s important to preserve the peacefulness and the sense of heritage in that area. And I think it’s important to honor the sister city trees and the Jackie Robinson memorial by not tearing out the former and making sure that the latter isn’t eclipsed by the hotel. Please don’t let option 2A go forward.

I am not sure why local governments feel they need to give away so much to developers. They demand more and more, but this is going too far. That land belongs to the people of Pasadena, and it should not even be considered as a give away..

Yet another hotel? We do not need more of this kind of business. Thank you all for your efforts.

As a resident of the city of Pasadena, I do not want to see a Hotel built in place of YMCA. Please preserve the beauty of Pasadena. Do rememberer however that you represent us, not the investors!

One of the reasons we love living in Pasadena is its distinctive civic center. This NON boutique hotel will add nothing to this historic area but chaos and clutter. There is an option for a true boutique hotel which preserves original facade and parkland and has a smaller impact on traffic and parking. Don’t let greedy outside developers come in and destroy our beautiful civic center for the empty promise of financial gain for the city.

This project violates the City’s goals regarding open space, especially for the Central District. Surely we can be more creative than this.

I had always hoped City Hall area could become car free and have more of a promanade feel, not more congested. Thank you for your work!

I strongly disagree with the propossed plan to build a hotel near the Civic Center. There are too many hotels being build in Pasadena already.

It is the people’s land! The planning commission and the council have a responsibility to be watch dogs over peoples property, right?
